Hi Peggers,
Well,my word, the last night proved to bean exciting one
for many of our members. First we had 10 of 12 active members on
the boards and that was our best turn out for some time.
Then an old friend we had not seen before came to call.
Old Mr 28 hand. Yep, Curt Batey was delighted when he
was dealt 4, 5's and had the King of Diamonds appear as the cut
card. Was a fine hand and a better reward!! This now makes 3
sanctioned 28 hands we have had this season. For one of the
smaller clubs that is a pretty good showing.
The score board for 5-28-10
Last 24 Ron Gustafson
Raggedy Ron - Ron Gustafson
1. Ron Gustafson 15, 07,107
2. Dave Rice 15, 06, 124
3. Larry Lindberg 13, 06, 52
4, Rick Shadforth 10, 05, 49
5. Curt Batey 10, 05, -02
6. Sharon Hamilton 09, 04, -04
7. Brian Paulsen 08, 04, 17
8. Lisa Duff 08, 04, -56
9. Jim Duff 08, 04, -57
10. Fran Sales 00, 00, -224
Ron "Da Champ" Gustafson was on a roll tonight!
He tore the place apart taking the Raggedy Ron Pool (a 3 week
carryover), the Last 24 Hand Pool and first place.Ron set the
bar high after this season finishing just shy of 300 points with
a final total of 297 GR Points. Congrats "Champ"! Tonight he
started by squeaking past Sharon "GG" Hamilton by 2. "The
most feared Cribbage Player west of the Elwah River" Larry
Lindberg then bested Ron by4. The winds started coming
taking Curt "Tall Guy" Batey by 25, then totally
destroying Jim "Teacher" Duff by 39. "Feisty" Frannie
Sales was beaten by 20 and Lethal Lisa Duff fell by
17. Dave Rice was able to stave off "Da Champ" in his
rush to the finish line by 10. Then it was lights out as
Rick "Pearl Buster" Shadforth fell by 6 and Brian "Board
Maker" Paulsen was beaten by 12.
Dave Rice has certainly become a very strong
player in his short tenure with the club finishing in the money
3 out of the 4 times he has played. Look out for Dave next
season. Tonight he was out the blocks in a rush laying a skunk
on "Lethal" Lisa Duff by 44 then taking out Curt "Tall
Guy" Batey by 27. There appeared a dip in the score card as
Dave dropped the next two, to Rick "Pearl Buster" Shadforth
by 27 and Brian "Board maker" Paulsen by 09. Sharon
"GG" Hamilton got the wrong end of a Skunking by 32. "The
Most Feared" Larry Lindberg beat Dave by 13. Dave burned
out the last three games by besting Ron "Da Champ" Gustafson
by 10, Jim "Teacher" Duff by 22 and Skunking "Feisty"
Frannie Sales by 34.
"The most feared cribbage player west of the Elwah
River" Larry Lindberg came in a strong 3rd place tonight.
Larry amassed his 6 wins over Curt Batey by 5, Ron
Gustafson by 4, Fran Sales by 20, Lisa Duff by
40, Dave Rice by 14 and Brian Paulsen by 1. His 3
losses came at the hands of Jim Duff by 19, Rick
Shadforth by 7 and Sharon Hamilton by 6.
Well folks we have had a fine year, we are of course
looking forward to next season. Let's try and make the club
grow as bets we can, bring in relatives, friends, or whom ever
you can to make the active roster blossom.
Aloha for now,
Jim & Lisa Duff
Hi Peggers,
Yes, we have done 29 events this year so our last hurrah
is next Friday for #30. We awarded 2 things this week as well
as presenting each PA Pegger with a new deck of Bicycle cards
just cause we could. The first award was to Frannie Sales
as she has suffered through a really tough season and has been
skunked 34 times making her the winner of the Most Skunks
Received and she was awarded salt and pepper shakers in the
shape of Pepe and Patricia Le Pew ( for those unfamiliar Pepe is
a skunk in love with Patricia a black cat in Looney Tunes
Cartoons).
Ron Gustafson has run away with the PA Peggers
Club Championship. Ron has amassed 282 points this season and
could break 300 if he can score big next week, Ron was
presented a very beautiful handcrafted (by Chris Christensen)
trophy cribbage board and a certificate from the club to
commemorate his achievement. The ACC GR certificate will come
much later.
Tale of the tape:
1. Lisa Duff 14, 07, 49
2. Ron Gustafson 10, 05, 52
3. Jim Duff 10, 05, 28
4. Larry Lindberg 10, 05, -21
5. Dave Rice 09, 04, 39
6. Frannie Sales 08, 04, 04
7. Sharon Hamilton 07, 03, -28
8. Curt Batey 06, 03, -79
Last 24 Jim Duff
Raggedy Ron NO ONE Next week it'll be worth 4 weeks roll overs
!!
" Lethal" Lisa Duff had her game face on tonight
and was living up to her nick name. She took the first 3 games
from Curt "Tall Guy" Batey by 20, Feisty Frannie Sales
by 3 and Ron "Da Champ" Gustafson by 10. Then there came
a bit of a stumble and she dropped the next two games to,
Dave Rice bested her by 24 and then Sharon "GG" Hamilton
laid the big hurt on her by 49. Lethal ran the table in the next
four games by beating, "Most Feared" Larry Lindberg by
9, her hubby Jim by 14, Curt Batey by 20 and
Frannie Sales by 6. Great card and the best of the best for
the day.
Ron "Da Champ" Gustafson fresh off being
presented his trophy board was whipping quite a few of us on the
club boards. Ron started with a win in game one from
"Feisty" Frannie Sales by 21. He then dropped the next 2
to, "Most Feared" Larry Lindberg by 20 and "Lethal"
Lisa Duff by 10. He bested Jim "Teacher" Duff by 16,
but was bested by Dave Rice by 7. Game 6 saw Curt
"Tall Guy" Batey fall by 12. Sharon "GG" Hamilton
squeaked out a 1 point win. Ron took the final 2 games from
Frannie Sales by 18 and Larry Lindberg by 23.
Jim "Teacher" Duff was trying hard to get some
points and 12 is no easy number some days I tell you!! But was
not to be this night as a 10 point card is the best he could
muster. Got him third place and a little slice of the pie but
nary point 1. Only claim to fame was the last 24 hand and
several valid shots at a Raggedy Ron but no cut!! Oh well next
week!!
Remember peggers next week Friday is it for the season.
Now that doesn't mean we won't be around and you know we will
need your help for the Clallam County Fair to populate (oh so
PC!!) the booth. I will be calling with requests for dates and
times when you can sit in our booth and play all comers. We
will be handing out Cribbage World magazines, a certificate to
those lucky enough to win a game against one of our members, a
pen, a deck of cards, and a drawing will be held from amongst
the winners for a hard wood cribbage board. It's a lot of fun
and we get to meet a lot of PA, Sequim, and Clallam County
residents. It puts a local face on the club and hopefully we
can recruit more folks to join.
Watch the Peninsula Daily News as we sent a short story
and a picture of Ron getting his board with Jim. So maybe we
might be able to get some members from additional publicity.
Aloha for now,
Jim & Lisa Duff
